Juan Sancho as Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” at the Festival de l’Abbaye de Saint-Michel

Juan Sancho returns to one of the founding masterpieces of opera on June 7, singing the title role in Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” at the Festival de l’Abbaye de Saint-Michel en Thiérache in France.

The performance brings together Les Épopées and the Chœur de l’Opéra de Dijon under the musical direction of Stéphane Fuget, alongside a distinguished cast including Juliette Mey, Isabelle Druet, Claire Lefilliâtre, Luigi De Donato, and Marco Angioloni.

Juan Sancho has appeared in numerous recordings of Monteverdi’s celebrated trilogy, “L’Orfeo”, “Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria”, and “L’incoronazione di Poppea”. Widely admired for his stylistic refinement and expressive intensity, the Spanish tenor has established himself as one of the foremost interpreters of the Early Music and Baroque repertoire.
