Federico Fiorio as Learco in Maria Antonia Walpurgis’s “Talestri”

On June 6, 2026, Federico Fiorio appears at the Händel-Festspiele Halle in a concert performance of Maria Antonia Walpurgis’s rarely performed “Talestri, regina delle Amazzoni”, conducted by Attilio Cremonesi at the Georg-Friedrich-Händel-Halle.

The Italian countertenor sings the role of Learco alongside Katharina Ruckgaber in the title role, Corinna Scheurle as Antiope, Ray Chenez as Oronte, and Roberta Invernizzi as Tomiri, with the Walkenried Consort and the Händelfestspielorchester Halle.

Written by composer, librettist, and princess Maria Antonia Walpurgis, the opera offers a strikingly original 18th-century female perspective on love, power, and duty in the world of the Amazons.
