On April 28, Scottish mezzo-soprano Beth Taylor sings the Angel in “The Dream of Gerontius” with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra at Suntory Hall, under the baton of Ivor Bolton.
Taylor has emerged as a compelling interpreter of Edward Elgar’s music, including this cornerstone of the repertoire, which she has performed to critical acclaim at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome, at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, and with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under Ryan Wigglesworth in both Edinburgh and her native Glasgow, among other venues. Most recently, she returned to the work at the Isar Philharmonie in Munich just weeks ago.
