Juan Sancho in the title role of Landi’s “La morte d’Orfeo” at the Theater an Der Wien

On January 28, 2026, Juan Sancho stars in the title role of Stefano Landi’s La morte d’Orfeo, a bold 1619 opera that overturns the myth, ending Orpheus’s story in violence rather than redemption, in a dark, gripping early Baroque sound world. Stéphan Fuget leads this one-off concert  performance at the helm of the ensemble Les Épopées. Juan Sancho is widely recognized as one of the leading interpreters of Early Music and Baroque repertoire, which includes one of his signature roles, the far more famous Monteverdi L’Orfeo.
