On December 16, 2025, Michael Spyres adds yet another country to the list of places where he has won over audiences, making his Latvian debut at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, joined by his regular recital partner, pianist Mathieu Pordoy.
The program features Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder, Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Strauss’s Op. 27 songs, and Korngold’s Unvergänglichkeit.
Internationally celebrated as a recitalist, the Missouri-born baritenor brings the same stylistic finesse, narrative clarity, and expressive daring to the recital stage as he does to opera. His programs are known for their breadth and imagination, moving with ease from bel canto elegance to French mélodie and rarities from the tenor repertoire, always delivered with his trademark artistry and musical intelligence.
